Toni Morrison - Iago

Toni Morrison is a Nobel Prize-winning author, best known for her novel ‘Beloved,’ which was awarded the Pulitzer Prize in 1988. Here she discusses her play, 'Desdemona', written in response to Shakespeare’s ‘Othello’, with Jerry Brotton. In her play she seeks to explore and explain the male companionship of Iago and Othello through an imagined rape scene, which unites the pair through a shared, shameful memory.
